This is my favorite new Fall dessert! It’s the perfect communal dessert for parties, with or without kiddos. And, oh the varieties of yummy-ness that you and your guests can create!
I provided chocolate fudge and caramel sauce to dip the apples into, then I provided a variety of sweet and salty topping choices. For a final bit of yummy, I also set provided small containers of sea salt, pumpkin spice, and dried orange peel. If you’d prefer to serve something with less sugar, you can go healthy and provide warm peanut butter or honey for dipping instead of caramel and chocolate and swap the candy for dried fruit and granola. The possibilities are endless!
Here’s a list of what I provided:
- selection of sweet red apples and tart green apples
- chocolate fudge sauce
- caramel sauce
- peanut butter candy
- toffee bits
- crushed sugar cones
- chopped nut mix
- crushed pretzels (I went with my favorite, Snyder’s Sourdough Hard Pretzels)
- mini dark chocolate chips
- pumpkin spice
- sea salt
- chopped dried orange peel
You’ll also want to provide:
- an apple slicer and corer (or you can pre-slice the apples)
- plates
- skewers, to hold the apple slices with
- spoons – some of my guests preferred to just dunk into the dipping sauces and toppings and others wanted to spoon them over the apple so I put some extra spoons in everything so everyone could have the kind of fun that they liked best

Thanks, Emily! Everyone had so much fun making creations. You could make one for doggies! Dogs eat apples, right?? 🙂 (…no chocolate for the pups, though!)
Wow Katie this is a cool idea! And I love your pictures too.
Thanks, Melinda! I thought of you when I wrote the healthy bit. 😉
I’ve wanted to do something like this but didn’t know how to make it work. Now I do! Thank you this looks amazing and like tons of fun.
So glad I could help! This really was a lot of fun and you could actually eat the apples…the whole ones are so darn hard to eat while still looking lady-like. 😉
