30×30 Challenge: Getting Outside, Week 1 Photo Collage

Not sure what I’m talking about?  Catch up on the 30×30 Challenge here.

I’m happy to say that I was able to get outside for at least 30 minutes everyday last week.  It was a drizzly and rainy week so there was an abundance of mushrooms!  They only last a short while in the hot, sunny Florida climate so I tried to get pictures whenever I could.  I’ll continue to post this week’s 30×30 photos on Twitter and Facebook.

Where you able to get outside much in the last couple of days?  Does it make you feel happier?

I am a total sucker for a fungal growth and these photos are delicious! I even like lichen so this post certainly hit the spot. We get at least an hour a day out in the great outdoors thanks to our 2 boisterous dogs and despite all of that outdoor energy we usually miss most of the nature at our feet because our boys are very interested in finding the nearest tree and making it their own. I like to wander around Serendipity Farm, especially in the teatree (Melaleuca alternifolia) stand at the bottom of the hill on our property and hunt for shrooms. I would love to head off to university next year and study shrooms and their close neighbours stools for about 5 years and come out the other side a totally qualified shroomologist as that is the ONLY way that Steve (husband) is going to let me actually eat any mushroom that I find (sigh)… again, thank you for your lovely shroom shots and well done on discovering your 30 a day. Keep posting photos of the delightful things that you see on your walk…whenever you are bending down with your camera to take a closeup of something delicate you can think of me…I will be dragged along howling behind Earl uttering vague obscenities and most probably trampling generations of shrooms and lichen in my wake…

I had such a good time finding all of these mushrooms, I’m so glad you enjoyed the photos! I’m loving reading about your adventures on Serendipity Farm with the pups. Let me know if you ever get to go to the shroom class, I’d love to know which ones I can eat! Plus, how cool would it be to say that I internet-know a shroomologist! Love it!
