For tea drinkers there is always a brand and type of tea that is dubbed the favorite, the go-to. You might stray to try new flavors, brands, or varieties but you always come back to one in particular. For me, that tea is Red Rose Original. It’s the tea that my father used to make when I was little and it’s still my favorite today. As far as tea goes, it’s a simple one but sometimes simple is better.
As the box of tea dwindles day by day, I start looking forward to “New Tea Day”. It’s the day when I open a new box of Red Rose Tea (and with 100 bags/box, these days don’t come often). I cut through the plastic outside and open the box to be greeted with the rich smell of tea. In addition to the smell of new tea, there’s always a little treasure in the box. They are small porcelain figurines, each with a theme. “What will I get this time?” I wonder.
Over the years I have amassed quite a little collection of figurines. I keep them tucked in a small box that lives on my bookshelves, at just the right height for curious children to find and play with.
Thanks for letting me share my treasures with you, feel free to share yours in the comments!
This is part of a new series called, Little Treasures. It’s all about the little collections that find their way into our homes over the years.
I love figurines.. they’re like small little treasures. Your turtle is super cute!
Me too, and keeping them in a little box just increases the “treasure” factor! 🙂
So this brings me back! When I was about six/seven my aunt would give me these little “treasures” from her tea box!
I kept them for the longest time. What a great memory you brought back for me. Thank you!

Oh, Brittany, that is so sweet. Thanks for sharing, it made my day! 🙂
I remember the low shelves, that’s where my collection began! Years from now, I hope those tiny hands grow up and think of you every time they open a fresh box. I just enjoyed that moment and some fond memories of Grandpa. It was a seahorse this time.
Isn’t funny how something as simple as a little box on a shelf can create such memorable moments? Thanks for sharing your memories!
